We welcome guests to The Old Granary.
It is a haven for those who want peace (we do not take children) and it is
non-smoking. Based in the beautiful Isle of Purbeck
we particularly welcome those interested in birdwatching,
walking, gardening and golf.
The converted
granary offers two very comfortable twin bedded rooms
both with en suite facilities, colour TV, clock radio,
kettle, tea and coffee tray and other thoughtful extras.
A good breakfast, varied each day, is served in the
dining room. |

In
the last few years we have seen over thirty species of birds
in our garden. There are RSPB reserves at Arne on the shores
of Poole Harbour and at Radipole Lake near Weymouth. Durlston
Park near Swanage has cliff walks which afford excellent
viewing of sea birds. |

Our
ground floor bedroom is suitable for less able guests. Although
the bathroom is not very roomy wheelchairs can be used in
there. There are extra handles and a |
walk-in-shower, no stepover. Power points are at waist level
and it is only a few steps from the bedroom door to the
dining table for breakfast. Access to the front door is
level except for one 2" step.

The
upstairs bedroom, which has a pretty shower-room, is accessible
from the outside via the old granary steps. So both rooms have
outside access as well. |

Visitors find this very
convenient if they wish to return to their rooms during the day
or late at night. |
The hills in Purbeck are famed for their
wonderful walks. There are many footpaths and the views are
stunning. Purbeck is considered to have the richest flora of
any area in the British Isles. And, of course, the coastline
westwards from Poole is part of the acclaimed Jurassic Coast,
a World Heritage Site.
We are surrounded by three golf clubs. The largest of them is
East Dorset.
|
Small and friendly is the Wareham Club and the Isle of Purbeck
Club is on the hills above Studland with extensive views.
For keen gardeners, my son Simon has built up a nursery which
now has a reputation for excellent quality plants with a wide
selection of varieties. Holme Nursery is at West Holme Farm where
we live, so come with any empty boot, you'll find it easy to fill! |
